The original development record
The Living Familiar is now implemented as an opt-in alternate desktop companion in rooks_perch_live.py. The original working rooks_perch.py remains unchanged. The new standalone Tkinter window renders a stylized raven directly on a canvas, reacts with idle bobbing and blinking, and cycles through curious, happy, sleepy and idle states. Users can drag it around the screen, click to open The Nest and use a right-click menu to select reactions, pause animation or exit. A local-only /health poll shows backend availability. No screen tracking, keyboard hooks, external connections or auto-start were introduced.
This is an early programmatically drawn character placeholder inspired by the accepted design, not yet the final canonical illustration or a sprite-based animation. No actual flying movement is implemented in 034. A later asset and animation pass is needed for full expressive poses and flight.
Verified on Fury: Python compilation PASS; static state/control presence check PASS. Real visual rendering, mouse interaction and menu acceptance tests are pending.
