MINI-ROOK / BUILD LOG 037
The Little Living Familiar
Experiment log: phased flight and idle variation await visual acceptance
TECHNICAL CHECKPOINT
What this build actually records.
- Stack and method
- Takeoff/flight/landing/rest/stretch phases · dual oscillation · transparent color key
- Recorded progress
- Compilation passes; code inspection finds phase functions and transparency configuration.
- Still open at this checkpoint
- Live runtime/visual, click-drag and flight acceptance pending; programmatically drawn, not canonical image sprites or a fully rigged character.
Software development on an existing workstation. This entry does not establish a new robot, custom hardware build or autonomous publishing capability.
TEST STATUS / SEPARATE FROM THE ORIGINAL RECORD
What later checks established.
Compilation passes; code inspection finds phase functions and transparency configuration.
Still open: Live runtime/visual, click-drag and flight acceptance pending; programmatically drawn, not canonical image sprites or a fully rigged character.
01 / BUILD LOG 037
The original development record
A new standalone experiment `rooks_perch_living.py` advances the transparent desktop overlay without modifying the accepted `rooks_perch_transparent.py`.
The action pipeline now has dedicated takeoff, flight, landing, resting and stretching phases. Takeoff briefly animates in place before horizontal movement; landing briefly returns to a resting pose after movement. Feather motion uses two different oscillation frequencies, while occasional idle stretches introduce spontaneous variation. Existing features are preserved: the tiny raven drawing, transparent Windows colour-key overlay, moving between screen positions, right-click reactions, local Nest opening and opt-in occasional flights.
Verification: Python syntax compilation PASS on Fury. Code inspection confirms phase functions and the transparent-colour configuration exist. Live runtime/visual, click-drag, flight and rendering acceptance are pending. No canonical image-sprite assets are integrated yet; this remains a programmatically drawn character and not a fully rigged character.
Status: AWAITING VISUAL ACCEPTANCE — not ready to claim finished animation quality.
