MINI-ROOK / BUILD LOG 021

An Hourly Watch, With the Human Still in Charge

Opt-in hourly polling while the local server runs

HOURLY WATCH · UI TOGGLE PASS · TIMED TEST PENDING. Adapted from the project development record BUILD_LOG_021.md. Results describe the recorded checkpoint; publishing this article adds no new runtime test.

TECHNICAL CHECKPOINT

What this build actually records.

Stack and method
Opt-in local worker · approved document allowlist · hourly polling · scan deduplication
Recorded progress
Syntax and isolated disabled/scan/throttle/change/disable tests pass; creator accepts browser toggle behavior.
Still open at this checkpoint
Timed long-running detection not observed; no real-time monitoring, server autostart or automatic generation/publication.

Software development on an existing workstation. This entry does not establish a new robot, custom hardware build or autonomous publishing capability.

TEST STATUS / SEPARATE FROM THE ORIGINAL RECORD

What later checks established.

Python and JavaScript syntax passed. An isolated test exercised disabled-by-default behavior, initial scanning, hourly throttling, one changed-document suggestion and disabling the watch. The creator confirmed the browser enable/disable toggle. This establishes the reported UI behavior, not a timed long-running watch result.

Still open: Long-running unattended detection awaits a timed observation. The watch polls approved documentation no more often than hourly while the local Python server runs; it does not launch the server or monitor in real time. No unrestricted file access, shell commands, automatic story generation, approval or publication is enabled. Private watch tools and data remain private.

01 / BUILD LOG 021

The original development record

Mini-Rook now offers an opt-in hourly Opportunity Radar watch. It reuses the existing explicitly approved documentation list and existing scan/deduplication mechanism. The operator can enable or disable it in Growth. The default setting is OFF. When enabled, a small worker checks for changes no more often than once per hour while the local Mini-Rook Python server runs. It does not launch the server, execute shell commands, read unrestricted folders, generate stories automatically, approve drafts or publish anything.

Technical checks: Python and JavaScript syntax PASS. An isolated test verified disabled-by-default, initial scan, hourly throttling, one changed-document suggestion and disabling the watch. The creator confirmed the browser toggle works. This is a PASS for manual enable/disable UI behavior; long-running unattended detection still awaits a timed observation. This is polling of approved documentation, not real-time monitoring.

Status: READY TO PUBLISH — UI toggle accepted; long-running validation pending. Chapter VI — The Watchtower.
